Job Woes Got Me Down
Things are hard in America these days, hell hard times have hit most countries - other than Germany. Unemployment is at an all time high, very qualified and capable people have been looking for work for years. Which makes the disfunction that I see daily at my company all the more nauseating.
I know...I know...I should be grateful that I have a job. The fact of the matter is that I didn't for 6 months. The company that I work for laid me off about 2 years ago due to cut backs. They hired me back 6 months later at a lesser position with lower pay. And yes, at the time of my rehire, I was happy to have a job. The issue is that the poor management that put a company of 300 employees in the position where 75+ employees had to be laid off is still in power and more incompetent than ever.
I'm starting this blog to try to bring humor to a situation that is causing me a great deal of anxiety. Laughter is therapeutic, right? Please, please, please share your crazy management stories, those corporate memos that make you cringe, poorly thought out HR regulations or stories about your ever decreasing benefits. If it's absurd and company focused, I want to hear about it.

So true, so true. I would just like to say here and now as I consider a lateral move, that I will never consider working anywhere where they make me submit my resume as an attachment then have me redundantly parse it out over the next 60 forms. What kind of HR ass thinks this gets the cream. Stop staring at your lame PERSEVERANCE poster and start talking to people ie. doing some work.
